EXCLUSIVE: Azeem Dayani describes his journey of becoming India’s first music supervisor as “magical”; says, “Certain things in life are written”

In the past recent years, the music album of any film has contributed a lot to its success. Wherever a chartbuster song impressed the audience, a big chunk of its credit goes to the composer, singer and lyricist. However, there is one more professional, who plays a significant role in the success of any song, and that professional is the music supervisor. Azeem Dayani, who works in Dharma Productions’ music department, recently spoke to Bollywood Hungama and explained the different aspects of being a music supervisor. Besides this, he also shed some light on his journey. Azeem told us, “I described my journey as magical and a blessing. Certain things in life are written. When you start doing something in life, god gives you an opportunity to do what you want to do exactly. I think that perfect combination happened in my life. Because I was studying marketing. I was into marketing. And music is something that is a creative passion for me.” Adding further, he asserted, “I had always thought of pursuing a stable job of 9 to 6. And, suddenly I found a way to do something with my passion, which is music, as my main thing. It is nothing less than a blessing. I got do to what my heart wanted to do. To get that opportunity and reach where I am today, it is a blessing for me.” For the unversed, Azeem Dayani’s most recent music supervision project is the Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi starrer Selfiee. Each song in the film, including the remake of ‘Main Khiladi’, has been loved by the audience.
