EXCLUSIVE: Pankaj Tripathi wouldn’t have done Kadak Singh if it was darker; says, “I don’t like excessively violent films with blood scenes”

The ZEE5 original film, Kadak Singh, has been creating ripples in the streaming world because of Pankaj Tripathi’s bravura act. Pankaj Tripathi shares a fascinating perspective on his film selection, particularly within the action genre. Contrary to the mainstream, he disclosed his preference to steer clear of action-packed films and those with a darker theme.

Tripathi has emphasized the significance of intense and nuanced storytelling over mere action sequences. His willingness to embrace roles aligned with his artistic sensibilities speaks volumes about his dedication to meaningful cinema. In Kadak Singh, the tale unfolds with Pankaj Tripathi portraying the character of AK Srivastava, an officer at the Department of Financial Crimes (DFC). Having faced selective amnesia following a tragic accident, Srivastava grapples with different versions of the events leading up to that crucial day.

In a candid quote, Pankaj Tripathi elaborated on his aversion to typical action films. When questioned about whether he would have agreed to do Kadak Singh if it had been darker and more intense, Tripathi shared, “Maybe not. I don’t like action films much. I really feel that movies should have only as much action and darkness as needed for the story to be communicated. We shouldn’t go over the top while making films. I don’t like excessively violent films with blood scenes.”

He further emphasized, “Log goli chala ke khauf create karte hain, hum sirf aankh dikha ke bhi khauf create kar lete hain,” he said (firing a bullet doesn't necessarily instil fear; we can create fear just by making eye contact)”.
