Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal moves towards the Rs. 1000 crore mark worldwide; Bhushan Kumar's bold move reaps dividend for T-Series

The year 2023 is about to end and it was spectacular for the Bollywood film industry. Several films did really well but the blockbuster success of the Ranbir Kapoor-Anil Kapoor-Bobby Deol-Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Animal stands out. The film was more than 3 hours long and on top of that, it was also rated ‘A’. Yet, the T-Series production silenced the cynics as it put up unprecedented numbers.

Animal, which was released on December 1, opened at a huge Rs. 63.80 crores in India. The word of mouth was positive, though a section of netizens and critics spoke extensively against the film. It added to the curiosity about the film and ended the first week at Rs. 338.63 crores. The film’s screen count reduced substantially, with the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki and Prabhas’ Salaar. Yet, it remained steady. In fact, there were reports that several multiplexes increased shows due to the constant demand. In four weeks, it has collected a huge 543.34 crores. The Telugu version has also performed strongly. Even Overseas, Animal excelled as it accumulated more than Rs. 250 crores. The four-week worldwide collections are more than Rs. 900 crores and are inching towards the Rs. 1000 crores aggregate mark worldwide. This will be T-Series’ first film to cross this historic figure.

The feat achieved by Animal proves yet again why Bhushan Kumar of T-Series is one of the most accomplished producers and also a risk-taker. Not many would agree to back a film like Animal or even Kabir Singh (2019), Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s previous film, for that matter. But the reputed producer chose to go with his instinct. Kabir Singh also did huge numbers, though it faced massive criticism. Undeterred by it, he decided to produce Animal. The manner in which he announced the film and also unveiled the pre-teaser ensured that the film was talked about even before it went on floors.

Closer to the release, T-Series meticulously and smartly planned the marketing of the film. Even after Animal was released, the team kept an eye on what was working for the film. Accordingly, they released the Iranian song, played during Bobby Deol’s entry as well as Ranbir Kapoor’s entry medley. All these moves added to the hype and ultimately the collections.

The success of Animal is not the only feather in the cap of T-Series. Over the years, they have made a mark and are a force to reckon with, be it in the field of music or film production. They are not just making Bollywood films and have also backed content down South and repeatedly collaborated with actors like Prabhas. In short, T-Series is emerging as the most powerful studio across Indian cinema.

The makers of Animal are now all set to organize a success bash on January 6, 2024. This will be a well-deserved celebration for the entire team for their hard work and of course for the T-Series team for thinking out of the box in all respects with the film.
