Alia Bhatt, the renowned Bollywood actor, is poised to venture into Hollywood with her upcoming film Heart of Stone. The trailer for the film was revealed during Netflix's 2023 Tudum festival in Brazil, showcasing Alia in the prominent role of Keya Dhawan, the primary antagonist. Reflecting on his daughter's significant international debut, filmmaker and father Mahesh Bhatt expressed immense pride as he witnessed Alia standing alongside acclaimed Hollywood actors such as Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. The moment filled his heart with joy and a sense of accomplishment.
Mahesh Bhatt told ETimes, “My heart soars with pride when I see her standing with the who's who of international players like Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan. To stand there without being stymied by the idea that it is Hollywood, the young of today don't feel slighted or lesser in any way when it comes to international talent.”
He also recounted a conversation he had with Alia Bhatt in which she shared her thoughts on what she believes is lacking in Bollywood, stating, “I once remember asking her, 'What is it that they have that we don't have? And her straight reply was 'Money'. She said it with great humility. She also said that they have a way of doing things and they are very professional but they have money, otherwise we have it all. I think that confidence is very important for the nation.”
For the unversed, Heart Of Stone is slated to release on August 11 on Netflix. Besides Alia, the film features Gal Gadot in the lead. Alia Bhatt will also be seen in Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani alongside Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. The film is slated to release in theatres on July 28, 2023.
