Anil Thadani offers joint deal for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Pushpa: The Rule to single screens to beat competition

In a bold move, veteran film distributor Anil Thadani is offering exhibitors across India a joint deal for two of the most anticipated films of 2024: Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Pushpa 2: The Rule. Thadani, through his company AA Films, is pushing for single screens and non-national chains to secure this package, ensuring a strong presence for both films amidst stiff competition, particularly from Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, which is also set for a Diwali release.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3: Building on a successful franchise

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, the latest instalment in the popular horror-comedy franchise, sees Kartik Aaryan return alongside Vidya Balan, Triptii Dimri, and Madhuri Dixit. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the film has generated considerable buzz after the success of its predecessor, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which was a box-office hit.

Slated to release on Diwali 2024, the makers have already dropped a teaser, and the theatrical trailer is expected to be unveiled within a week. With a star-studded cast and a loyal fanbase, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is primed to attract a large audience, and Thadani's distribution strategy aims to ensure that it reaches the widest possible viewership.

Pushpa: The Rule: A sequel with high expectations

Equally important in Thadani's package deal is Pushpa: The Rule, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise, starring Allu Arjun. Directed by Sukumar, the first film was a massive success, particularly in South India, and its sequel is expected to continue the story of Pushpa Raj, a character that has become iconic across the nation.

The fight against Singham Again

The Diwali box-office clash between Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 and Singham Again is shaping up to be one of the biggest showdowns of the year. With Rohit Shetty’s cop-universe film expected to draw huge crowds, Thadani's strategy becomes more critical. According to trade sources, PVRInox Pictures is handling distribution for Singham Again, and competition for screens will be fierce.

With a potential Rs 90 crores nett capacity up for grabs, showcasing strategy, pricing, and theatre allocation will play pivotal roles in determining the winner of the Diwali box-office battle. Thadani’s decision to bundle Pushpa: The Rule with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 could prove to be a masterstroke in securing the upper hand.
