Taapsee Pannu says, "I still get so much love for playing Rumi" as Manmarziyaan completes 6 years

Taapsee Pannu is an actress who has carved a niche for herself and is known for playing some powerful and memorable characters. Among the many which includes Rani in the Hasseen Dillruba series, is also her much appreciated film Manmarziyaan, that also stars Vicky Kaushal and Abhishek Bachchan as male leads. The Anurag Kashyap directorial celebrates its sixth anniversary on Saturday, September 14. Marking the occasion, Taapsee spoke about how special the film was to her.

While talking about Manmarziyaan, Taapsee Pannu shared how the film was close to her heart and how her role as Rumi was loved by the audience. She said, "Talking about Manmarziyaan, the film received so much love. I still get a lot of love for playing Rumi, but the film didn’t get the kind of box office response I feel it deserved because it had everything going for it commercially, along with a wonderful story and good performances by everyone." In Manmarziyaan, Taapsee played the role of strong-headed Rumi who is caught between her love and her family. The film, which marked a collaboration with writer and producer Kanika Dhillion, was a unique take on love that was inspired by older classic love triangles.

Of late, Taapsee received much love for her role as Rani in the sequel to Hasseen Dillruba - Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba and she also featured in a key role in the Akshay Kumar starrer Khel Khel Mein. Speaking of her upcoming ventures, Taapsee Pannu recently announced her venture with Kanika Dhillon titled Gandhari which promises a gripping narrative with intense personal stakes set against a backdrop of mystery and action. The actress will star as a determined mother on a mission in this entertainer that will be streaming on Netflix.
