Madhu Chopra recalls heated exchange with Dostana director over Priyanka Chopra’s health: “If you want her to die on your set, I'll send her. But..”

Priyanka Chopra, who starred alongside John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan in Dostana, faced a tough situation on set due to illness. The film, directed by Tarun Mansukhani, was one of her career-defining projects. However, during the shoot, Priyanka developed a high fever, leading her mother, Madhu Chopra, to step in and request a break for her daughter’s health.

Madhu Chopra’s Concern and Director’s Reaction Speaking to Lehren Retro, Madhu Chopra recalled how Priyanka insisted on working despite being unwell. After realizing that her fever wasn’t subsiding, Madhu decided to call the director herself. However, she was met with a sarcastic response from Tarun Mansukhani, who reportedly said, “How convenient.” This remark did not sit well with her. Standing Up for Priyanka Reacting to Tarun’s comment, Madhu Chopra firmly responded, “If you want her to die on your set, I'll send her. But if something happens to her, you’ll be responsible for it.” She later revealed that this moment remained a running joke between them, with Tarun often playfully bringing up her words whenever they met.

Besides this, she also talked about the time Priyanka was still in school and had just returned from the US to her hometown in Bareilly after four years. “There was a big drama. When she reached Bareilly, the standards were very different. She had a different dressing sense, and talked with a heavy accent. We sent her to a convent school and her father had given strict instructions never to go out alone. There were boys who would follow our car often,” she recalled.

Speaking of the professional front, PeeCee, reportedly, will be seen in SS Rajamouli’s next with Mahesh Babu. In addition, she has American action-comedy Heads of State in the pipeline. The actress has not shared any update on her Bollywood comeback project, Jee Le Zara.
