Ranbir Kapoor calls Amitabh Bachchan the ultimate ‘aura farmer’, recalls childhood visit to Ajooba sets on Kaun Banega Crorepati

Ranbir Kapoor recently revisited a childhood memory of Amitabh Bachchan while appearing on the Diwali special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati. The actor, who appeared on the quiz-based reality show alongside his Ramayana co-star Sai Pallavi, spoke about his admiration for the veteran star and recalled his first impressions of him during a visit to the sets of Ajooba.

During the conversation, Ranbir expressed his deep respect for Amitabh Bachchan, revealing that the legendary actor occupies a place in his life alongside his late father, Rishi Kapoor, as someone he finds difficult to look directly in the eyes while speaking. “Sir, sabse pehle toh main yeh kehna chahunga ki meri zindagi mein do hi aise log aaye hain, jinki aankhon mein main aankhein daal ke baat nahi kar sakta... ek mere pita ji the aur doosri aap hain..” (Sir, first of all, I would like to say that there have been only two people in my life whose eyes I cannot look into while talking... one was my father, and the other is you),” he said.

Ranbir then recalled visiting Amitabh Bachchan during the filming of Ajooba as a child. Referring to a photograph from that time, which the megastar had also shared on social media, the actor described the impression Bachchan made when he entered a room. Bringing a contemporary Gen Z expression into the anecdote, Ranbir humorously suggested that the actor had embodied what is now popularly called “aura farming” long before the term became a part of online vocabulary.

He went on to add, “Yeh yaad hai... bachpan mein jab main aapke samne bada hua hoon, but bachpan mein jab main Ajooba ki shooting mein aaya tha, aapne yeh photo aapne post bhi ki thi apne social media handle mein... Toh maine dekha tha yeh lamba sa insaan, jo aaj Gen Z bolti hai na aura farming, woh unhi se shuru hui thi... jab woh room mein aate the... toh aisa lagta tha ki koi... matlab poora aura bhar ke hi aaya hai..” (I remember... I grew up in front of you, but when I came to the sets during the shooting of Ajooba as a child, you had also posted this photograph on your social media handle... So, I saw this tall man, whom Gen Z today would call ‘aura farming:’ it all started with him... When he entered a room, it felt as though someone had arrived, bringing his entire aura along)."

The exchange brought together a heartfelt expression of admiration and a light-hearted observation about Amitabh Bachchan’s screen presence and personality. The moment also offered a glimpse into Ranbir’s childhood memories of the veteran actor, whose influence he acknowledged with evident reverence.

Ranbir and Sai Pallavi are set to portray Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, respectively, in the upcoming epic Ramayana.  The Kaun Banega Crorepati Diwali special episodes featuring the actors will air on October 29 and 30 at 9 PM on Sony Entertainment Television.
