Saiyaara fever grips theatres as audiences turn screenings into live concerts, watch

Theatres across India are turning electric as Saiyaara, starring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, continues to captivate audiences with its emotional depth and youthful energy. Directed by Mohit Suri and presented by Yash Raj Films, the romantic drama has crossed a powerful milestone, raking in an impressive Rs 21.25 crore on its opening day.

But beyond the numbers, it’s the audience reaction that’s drawing attention.

In a viral video surfacing online, moviegoers are seen waving their phone flashlights, singing along to the film’s soundtrack, and erupting into cheers, transforming a regular screening into what feels like a live concert. The clip, reportedly from a late-night show in Mumbai, captures the euphoric reception that Saiyaara is enjoying across the country.

While Bollywood has long relied on star power and promotional overdrive to draw crowds, Saiyaara seems to have taken a quieter, more confident route. Skipping the usual pre-release interviews, media rounds, and podcast appearances, the film built anticipation primarily through its trailer and music — both of which resonated deeply with a young, digitally engaged audience.

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, known for hits like Kaante and Shootout at Wadala, praised this approach, calling it a “genius move” by YRF. “They kept alive the freshness exclusively for the big screen. And look at how it’s worked,” he wrote on X. He also criticised the industry's reliance on bloated publicity campaigns, pointing out how organic engagement — like that seen with Saiyaara and earlier with 12th Fail — often proves more effective.
