Actors Arshad Warsi and Jitendra Kumar, in an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, opened up about the release of their film Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas and shared their thoughts on the current theatrical landscape.
When asked whether the film should have been released on the big screen, Arshad took a realistic stance. He said, “I am a very practical person. For me, who I am and what position I am in my life, to have a theatrical release, it needs to be a much bigger film. It needs to have a much larger budget, a huge marketing and PR push. There’s a whole other angle — box office, money… There are many things. So I would not advise anybody.”
Responding to the host’s question on whether theatres are now reserved only for big films, Arshad admitted, “Looks like.” Jitendra, however, expressed a personal wish, saying, “I have not done many films, so I would have loved to see myself on the big screen.”
Arshad summed up the sentiment by adding, “See, I am a practical person. We all want our films to be released on the big screen, because films are only enjoyable in theatres on the big screen.”
Arshad’s last theatrical release was Jolly LLB 3, co-starring Akshay Kumar, which hit cinemas on September 19. While he continues to remain a strong presence on OTT, his recent performance in The Ba***ds of Bollywood* as Ghafoor received praise from audiences. Bhagwat Chapter One: Raakshas recently premiered on ZEE5, and the actor will next be seen in King, headlined by Shah Rukh Khan, which is currently under production.
