On the occasion of Children’s Day 2025, Bhumi Pednekar shared a deeply personal note reflecting on the children whose stories have influenced her both as an actor and as an individual. The actress, known for her commitment to socially driven narratives, spoke about how her 2024 film Bhakshak left a lasting emotional impact on her.
Calling Bhakshak “one of the hardest journeys” of her career, Bhumi wrote that portraying the harsh, silent suffering faced by many children shook her to the core. The film, inspired by real-life incidents of abuse and neglect, required her to confront some of the most unsettling realities endured by young survivors. “It opened my eyes to the harsh realities so many children face — the fear, the silence, the invisibility,” she shared.
Bhumi also remembered her interactions with the children at Abhyudaya Ashram, describing them as symbols of resilience and hope. Their joy, dreams and inner strength, she said, continue to humble her and reinforce the importance of compassion and dignity in shaping young lives.
Extending her message beyond human children, Bhumi highlighted the vulnerability of India’s street dogs, whom she described as “children of this earth.” She wrote that their innocence and dependence on human kindness make them equally deserving of protection and empathy. “They too are voiceless little beings trying to survive in a world that doesn’t always make space for them,” she said.
