Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated Prime One, the first phase of producer Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios, at Film City in Mumbai. The campus serves as the global headquarters for Prime Focus and brings creative and technology teams together within a single, purpose-built ecosystem.
Speaking at the event, Fadnavis addressed the gathering and shared his hopes for Ramayana, the upcoming film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash. “I will be disappointed if the Academy Award doesn’t come to Ramayana,” said Fadnavis.
The inauguration follows an announcement made during the WAVES Summit, where Prime Focus and the Government of Maharashtra had jointly revealed plans to develop a global entertainment ecosystem at the heart of India’s filmmaking industry in Mumbai.
That vision has now taken shape with the opening of Prime One. Serving as the company’s global headquarters, the campus now houses over 1,000 members of the Prime Focus family in Mumbai, anchoring the company’s worldwide operations, which span a workforce of more than 10,000 people across the globe.
Malhotra has built a global footprint through his visual effects company, DNEG, which operates under Prime Focus. An eight-time Academy Award winner for Best Visual Effects, DNEG has worked on films including Dune: Part Two, Dune, and Tenet.
DNEG, in association with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, is producing Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash. The film’s trailer has released in India, and an English lip-synced version has also been launched for international audiences.
